At 03:45 (okay 3:50… courtesy of yours truly) the local trail club’s “fun bus” left Nelspruit on a sunrise trip to the metropolis of Hoedspruit for Lowveld Trail Running’s second race in their series of three. I unfortunately missed the first race of the series but was excited for some flat, fast racing… and that it was!
The 20km route took us on an adventure run through the Zandspuit Bush and Aero Estate with opportunity for some game viewing. With only 205m of total accent, we weaved through the estate on continuous single tracks and intermittent dirt roads at a relentless pace bringing it’s own element of unique exhaustion. By the 12km I could feel the week’s training in my legs and it was like I was back at a warrior race dragging a tyre home! Arriving at the vibe of the finish line was a heavenly relief😊
