Daddy’s OCR Race #2

I went back to Elgin valley for the second race of the Daddy’s OCR event. Getting back there made me realise again how beautiful the place is. The morning of the race was rather cold, but soon the sun was out and things looked perfect for an OCR event. I used the Inov8 Race ultra’s for this race. It was a good run it gave me a lot of support, was a comfortable ride in the dry conditions and gave me good traction on the trail.

I saw only a few familiar faces at the start line up and a lot of new ones. Soon we were off up a big climb. It was rather close for the first 10km, but soon my legs fell off as I wasn’t at 100% due to some sickness the previous week. For me the main difficulty for this event was the distance of the race. I didn’t expect it to be so far and my energy levels were really low at the end. Also, the climbs were really tough. The highlight of this event was most certainly the views and the trails.

The obstacles were also rather disappointing there were no proper carries and also no grip strength obstacles to speak of. The trail was the most challenging obstacle on the day which made for hard running. The race was more like a trail run with speed bumps

Still, it was an enjoyable event and congrats to everyone who got on the podium you truly deserved it. Not my best performance but hopefully will be back to training sooner than later. I got 3rd position.
