Race Report: Megan van Tonder – Warrior #6

Although this warrior only took part on one day which was very tiring as we had the sprint races to do not long after the main, long race, the weekend was super fun yet again and the team managed to get some to get some super results. I took part in the Rookie Elite category as I usually do, and came 1st overall for the ladies but I also competed in the sprint races, since I had so much fun at SA Champs and wanted to do it again, and I came 1st overall for the u/18 ladies. The race venue wasn’t very hilly which made the main races fairly fast as no one got tired on the usual killer warrior hills. We are currently heading into summer and Nelspruit was hot, even at 9 am when the Rookie elite batch was sent off, luckily we had the mud monster, rope traverse through water and the Mamba to cool us off throughout the race. It was an awesome experience to run on the outside ramps and stairways of the Mbombela Stadium, which of course, had a great view of the warrior venue which was situated right next to the stadium.

Other than the stadium and refreshing water obstacles, the race was amazing as usual and I cannot wait for the next warrior in October for another great race. This year is coming to an end faster than we think and I am getting more and more excited to hopefully move up to Commando at the beginning of next year.
