Mankele 3 Towers Trail Run – Emily takes the win.

20-22 September, 2019

By Emily Clarke

Mankele Mountain Bike Park is a trail haven close to my heart and my home.

For the past decade I have raced, trained, been emotionally shredded and conquered personal heights on the single tracks and winding roads of this place.

The Three Towers 3 day MTB stage race has played a large role over the years in my personal development as a mountain biker and athlete.

When Mark informed me that he would be adding a two-day Trail Running stage race to his menu, I immediately knew it would be fantastic.

The race covered a distance of 40km over the two days. The first day included quite a bit of ascent initially but soon leveled out and took us souring down “bees”- one of my favourite single tracks of all time. From there we flowed through the narrow but manageable tracks right through to the river and back home.

Day Two was much flatter to start out but equally as exciting and flowing as day one. It always amazes me that every time I race at Mankele, there are new trails to master and seemingly different mountains to conquer.

Being  part of the Three Towers stage race, connecting with friends and experiencing the vibe was an absolute privilege.

Thank you Mark Mayer and Goeff Anderson for including us runners in your very prestigious cycling event.

I look forward to seeing trail running grow at Mankele!
