Race Report: Michelle Meyer – Warrior #5

How does one summarize a weekend of racing in Ballito!? … Warrior #5
The short course on Saturday was lightning fast, the men put up a spectacular race to spectate…!
For the women’s race, it was also quite exciting, at least from my point of view! ;P There really is no room for error…!
I was happy to have taken 3rd, congrats Dom, Carina, Nikki and all the girls who came and made it such an exciting race!
Sunday was the big day, with a beach run waiting for us on the horizon. I think Warrior wanted to change things up for this race and they sure managed to do so… but in the best way! Who gets to run into the ocean in the middle of an obstacle race!?
Filling up a jerry can took longer than I expected but it was good fun standing in the waves trying to get it filled… just dump out all the water after running back up the beach 😅
The run was very challenging for me in this race, but I had the best company along the way! Thank you, Mandie and Jaime, you kept me sane (…relatively sane! 😉 )
After finishing black-ops, I had just enough time to change into something dry and get convinced that I won’t be completely useless, even though I felt like I would be, for the team race! Greg had a lot more faith in my endurance… after running 20km’s (which I thought would be 17 at most…) I was not up for anything.. but thank goodness we raced because the team race was extra exciting and we managed to take the win!
Shout out to my awesome teammates, competitors, and family for all the support and encouragement!
