Race Report: Malcolm Dunkeld – Kinetic Sprint

The fourth and final race of the Kinetic Adventure 25km sprint race was bound to be an intense race. Going into the series having won the last three race the Keyhealth Nevarest Origin team was looking to make it a clean sweep. Unfortunately, team substitute Ross Kay-Hardes came down with a serious tummy bug the day before and I had to ask OCR racer Theunis Grobler to help.

The race started with a run leg, which we managed quite well and came into transition in third place behind Keyhealth Nevarest (Greg and Jaco) and Jabberwock. It was a quick transition and onto the bike leg, Theunis had not spent much time on the bike as he was training for OCR and unfortunately were not able to keep up with the pace. Clean navigation and pushing as hard as we could we still managed to cross the finish line in third place. Fortunately, we had done enough to secure the series and finished as overall series winners. Well done to all the teams that raced on the day and especially the other Keyhealth Nevarest teams.
