3 Days, 8 Podiums

Ruan van der Merwe – 2nd place 3222 40km

What a busy weekend the Nevarest Team had! Not only two OCR events, but a two-day Trail Run as well!

Tumi Matlou – 2nd place 3222 40km

As usual, our set of superstars performed to their maximum potential, putting everything they had into their races. The 3222 two day Trail Run had plenty of technical sections, along with that came some intense competition, especially in the Men’s 40km division, where our very own Ruan claimed 2nd place, losing out to none other than Christiaan Greyling, and beating out fierce competitor Thabang Madiba.

Megan and Dylan van Tonder – 1st & 2nd place 3222 15km

Jonathan Ham & Ruth Avierinos – Jonathan came 1st at the 3222 – 15km

Along with an awesome result from Ruan, we had an equally tight race in the ladies 40km, where Tumi managed to snag second place, coming behind Nicky Booyens.

Also doing a two-day Trail Run, Jonathan and Megan both racked up first places respectively, competing in the 15km division. With Dylan hot on Jonathan heels, coming in second place. We’re incredibly proud of our young athletes, who take an entire weekend away from their already busy study schedules and take on these awesome scenic races.

We don’t only run over mountains and tough terrain, our athletes run over some obstacles too!

Louis Smit – Double 1st place GI Joe

Louis once again proved his OCR dominance at GI Joe, claiming yet another back-to-back first place at his home ground OCR race, retaining his champion title. Gaining two addition 1st place podiums!

Adding to her string of OCR dominant events, Carla destroyed the competition at Wattera this weekend too, claiming first place and solidifying her dominance as one of South Africa’s premier OCR female athletes.
